Kenya Player of the Week
Allan Wanga

TEAM AFC Leopards
AFC Leopards
3-0 Muhoroni Youth

Wanga has shown a steady improvement in his performance this season and his superb display against Muhoroni Youth is one of those moments he has come out to inspire Ingwe. After coming back from Vietnam, Wanga initially struggled to fit into the team and was even at one time on the end of boos from fans. However, Wanga has managed to turn around the negative energy and now remains one of the team's top strikers. His latest goal - the fastest of the season - was the seventh and reminds most of his fans about his great form in 2007 when he emerged top scorer and earned him opportunity to turn professional in Angola.

Congratulations to Allan Wanga's 19th Kenya Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Edwin Lavasta- Gor Mahia

Once again Lavatsa came on as a second half substitute to guide Gor Mahia to a 2-1 win over Mathare United in a result that leaves K’Ogalo needing nine more points to be crowned champions. Lavatsa has the potential to become a top flight striker though he needs to work on his finishing capabilities. At just 21, time is still on his side and he remains a good addition to the team's striking partnership giving coach Bobby Williamson plenty of options as he seeks to win the 2013 title.

Clifton Alwanga- KCB

Alwanga had an outstanding performance against Ulinzi Stars on Sunday. He scored to level matters for the bankers after Osca Wamalwa had put Ulinzi ahead in the first half. Alwanga seems to have rediscovered his scoring boots after a long lull and between him and striking partner Jacob Keli have 20 goals among themselves. The KCB hit man was a clearly distraught man after Ulinzi equalized on Sunday.

Moses Chikati- Homeboyz

Chikati scored one of the most important goals of his career when he led his side to a 1-0 win over Western Stima in Saturday's Kakamega derby. The goal greatly helped to ease relegation worries by Homeboyz, who move six points clear of bottom side Karuturi Sports. It was a sweet win for coach Edward Manaoh, who needs to pick three more wins to be assured of a place in next season's top flight. Chikati has certainly become a hero at the club and by scoring, sends his ratings soaring even higher.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Kenya, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
