thumbnail Hello,

The former Sony Sugar striker has been in great form for the league champions and once again came to the team's rescue scoring a late winner against Western Stima

Kenya Player of the Week
Ismael Dunga
AGE 20
TEAM Tusker FC
Tusker FC
1-0 Western Stima

It is hard to think of a player who has scored three goals in a row since the 2013 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) kicked-off but Dunga did it when he helped his side to edge out Western Stima 1-0 on Saturday. Dunga has proved his mettle since earning the faith of Coach Robert Matano, who has opted to start him upfront and he has not disappointed. Many still remember his stunning goal against AFC Leopards last Saturday and followed it up with another goal in the 3-1 win over Mathare United in a Top 8 match. Dunga is one of the new players signed by the KPL champions as he was previously at Sony Sugar. His performance is likely to be a great inspiration to national coach Adel Amrouche, who is shot of strikers ahead of the June 5 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Congratulations to Ismael Dunga's 2nd Kenya Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Hassan Zinde - Karuturi Sports

It was not for nothing that Zinde was named runners-up up-coming player in the KPL last season after a stunning performance in 2012. Zinde has maintained his form and was on target when his side upset Ulinzi Stars 2-0 at Afraha Stadium on Sunday. He continues to remain one of Coach James Omondi’s crucial players as the side begins their resurgence but the team should watch out as possible suitors are bound to turn up with good offers for the Ugandan.

Mohammed Mwachiponi-Karuturi Sports

Another Karuturi Sports player, who has been on fire this season, is Mwachiponi after scoring some crucial goals at the beginning of the league. He had gone quite but his goal against Ulinzi Stars on Sunday was a great come-back for a young player, who looks set to go places and has been an able replacement for injured veteran Jacob Omondi. Mwachiponi has enjoyed great consistency at the flower men and he will be the reason Karuturi do well this season.

Rama Salim- Gor Mahia

Week in week out, Salim continues to hit headlines with consistent performance for his club and it was no different at the weekend when the team drew 0-0 with new comers Kakamega Homeboyz. Salim has featured in almost all league matches for Gor Mahia and remains a key cog in coach Zradvko Logarusic’s plans in spite of the injury he had at the beginning of the season. He is likely to hit the same form he had last season leading his club to finish in second spot on the log.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Kenya, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
