Goal 50 star Omar Abdul Rahman has claimed Al-Ain are in advanced negotiations to sell him as he sets his sights on a move to Europe.
The United Arab Emirates attacker, who has been linked with Manchester City in the past, exclusively told Goal there has been extensive interest in his signature from all across the globe, and he admits Europe is next on his agenda.“Of course, why not? There are some proposals from Saudi Arabia, England, Portugal and other countries, but it's up to Al-Ain officials to decide,” said the player who ranked at No.39 in this year's Goal 50. “It's not right to name names, but the negotiations are at an advanced stage, and I want to play in Europe.”
The 21-year-old thanked Goal for his inclusion in the 50, while stating his sights are set much higher for future years’ awards.
“It is a big honour to be named in a list which includes world-class players. I'm not just delighted for me, but it's also proof that Arabic-based players have the talent to keep pace with the best athletes in this sport,” said Abdul Rahman.
“Being in the Goal 50 represents so much to me. I hope to live up to the new expectations, because being in your list means that I'm on the right track. I am ambitious enough to become one of the top 10 players in the world.”
Abdul Rahman recently received notable praise from a fellow Goal 50 entrant, Egypt’s Mohamed Aboutrika, who saw the wide man’s excellent form at close quarters during his recent loan spell with Baniyas.
And such acclaim has boosted the confidence of the former Al-Hilal youngster, who was quick to play up the importance of Aboutrika’s words.
“Aboutrika is a star and no words could repay him for all he has done throughout his career," he continued. "His words are something that fill me with pride. It is an honour that I drew his attention.”
A move to Europe for Abdul Rahman would represent a further breakthrough for Arabic football following news that Amer Abdul Rahman is set to spend 2013-14 on loan at English Championship side Blackburn Rovers.Click HERE to see the full list for the Goal 50 for 2012-13.
