Tiene: The best is yet to come from Cote d'Ivoire

The Paris Saint-Germain full-back has stated that despite the Elephants winning their first two games in the tournament, there is still room for improvement in the later stages

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siaka Tiene sent a warning out to rivals stating that although Cote d'Ivoire have sealed their progression to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a game to spare, the side still have not reached their highest level.

The Paris Saint-Germain full-back has been part of the Elephants' side which crushed Tunisia 3-0 and Togo 2-1, but he insists there is still more to come from Sabri Lamouchi's men.

“We pushed Tunisia really hard. We won the game convincingly, but I still think that we haven’t performed to the best of our ability in this tournament. There is more to come,” Tiene told Goal.com.

Cote d'Ivoire last won the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 1992 when they beat Ghana 11-10 on penalties after the game ended 0-0.

Back in familiar surroundings in South Africa where he participated in the Premier Soccer League, the defender wants to win the 2013 Afcon trophy for the fans back home.

He added: “Our fans should expect more from us because we really owe this Afcon trophy to the Ivorians."
