Marco Reus has been excellent throughout Borussia Dortmund's season, and has been awarded our latest World Player of the Week award after a stellar hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp's men spent much of the match against the fourth-placed Bundesliga side with 10 men on the pitch, however, the former Borussia Monchengladbach star scored three times to ensure BVB were left unharmed by being a man down.
As well as being the crucial component in Saturday's 3-0 win, Reus excelled in Dortmund's Champions League last-16 clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, and the reigning German champions - who topped a group that included Real Madrid and Manchester City - have two away goals to take into their home leg as a result.
Goal.com's Falko Bloeding said: "It has been another amazing week for Marco Reus. Having already played strongly against Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday (which finished 2-2), the Germany international was even more impressive during Dortmund's 3-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt.
"In a match that had been considered difficult for the reigning champions, Reus scored twice in the opening 10 minutes. Both times he showed his ability to finish clinically when it mattered. In 11 games this season, the 23-year-old has managed to score the first goal in the match.
"Even after Julian Schieber got sent off on Saturday, the hosts were not in danger. That was due to Reus, who made it three during the second half. The former Gladbach man has now collected an impressive 15 goals and 10 assists in 32 matches for BVB."
| Congratulations to Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus, Goal.com's 196th World Player of the Week winner! |
