German soccer side SC Freiburg have extended their partnership with Badischen Staatsbrauerei Rothaus for a further three years.
The local brewery has been a premium partner of the Bundesliga club since 2005 and is therefore the longest-standing sponsor within the team’s second-level sponsorship category.
Though financial terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, Sponsors.de values it at €500,000 (US$690,800) a year.
“We are very pleased that the last glass is not drunk with our long partner Rothaus,” said Fritz Keller, the chairman of SC Freiburg. “We are very proud that we are one of the few teams in the league that can offer a local beer on tap yet that tastes great and is very popular with the fans.”
With SC Freiburg currently 14th in the Bundesliga and only two points above the relegation zone, the club was keen to emphasise that the contract with Rothaus is “valid irrespective” of the team’s membership in Germany’s top flight next season.
