Laureus, the organiser of the prestigious annual Laureus World Sports Awards, has unveiled the line-up for its inaugural Laureus All Stars Unity Cup.
Fabio Capello and Michael Laudrup will each take charge of a side for the fixture, which will be played in front of an invited audience on 25th March at the Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Confirmed participants include: Ronald de Boer, Vítor Baía, Paulo Ferreira, Steve McManaman, Gaizka Mendieta, Hidetoshi Nakata and Antonios Nikopolidis.
There will also be a fixture for U19s, and former FC Barcelona and Real Madrid player Luis Milla will run a series of coaching sessions for young soccer players.
YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri, Malaysia’s minister of tourism and culture, commented: “Kuala Lumpur is honoured to have been given the privilege of hosting the prestigious 2014 Laureus World Sports Awards and the city looks forward to staging this internationally-renowned event and welcoming a plethora of sporting legends to Malaysia.”
The match will form part of the 2014 Laureus World Sports Awards, which will be held from 24th to 26th March. The event was relocated to the Malaysian capital after plans to host the ceremony in Rio de Janeiro were scrapped in January.
