Co-operative Energy has become the official energy partner of the Supporters Trust, a body aimed at promoting supporter and community involvement in the ownership and running of sports clubs in England.
The two-year agreement will see Co-operative Energy offer English sports fans competitive energy tariffs. The clubs, meanwhile, will benefit from a profit sharing agreement that will provide financial support to a range of supporter initiatives.
Co-operative Energy will help the organisation to further its core aim of increasing sustainability and supporter involvement in both soccer and rugby league.
Mark Bullock, the commercial manager of Supporters Direct, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Co-operative Energy as the official energy partner to Supporters Direct. Their involvement is representative of our shared cooperative values and celebrates the success of the supporters trust movement in the UK.
“Their support for our core work is particularly encouraging and the partnership allows supporters trusts to generate an important residual income which will reinforce the organisations’ community benefit.”
