Swiss watchmaker Jean Richard has signed an agreement to become the official watch partner of Premier League soccer side Arsenal.

The long-term agreement, which was announced on Thursday, will give the brand prominent branding opportunities throughout Arsenal’s 60,000-capacity Emirates Stadium.

The watchmaker will also create a licensed limited edition Arsenal watch, which will be distributed through the club’s retail channels.

Bruno Grande, Jean Richard’s chief executive officer, said: “A strong heritage combined with young team spirit and style: Arsenal and Jean Richard share the same philosophy of life.”

Arsenal’s sales and marketing director Vinai Venkatesham added: “This is another important step as we build our partnerships portfolio and underlines the momentum we have on our commercial agenda.”

This is the second major sponsorship that Arsenal have announced this week; on Monday the club confirmed a long-awaited kit deal with Puma that is reportedly worth UK£150 million over its five-year term.

Arsenal currently lie second in the Premier League table, one point behind their free-scoring rivals Manchester City.
