Newly formed FA Women’s Super League soccer team the London Bees have signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with Stanmore College.
The agreement will see the college become the club’s main sponsor and official education partner. It is the biggest sponsorship deal in women’s club football and could be worth up to UK£500,000.
As part of the agreement students at the college were given the responsibility of designing the club’s playing kit and emblem.
Tony Kleanthous, the chairman of the London Bees, said: “In Stanmore College we have sponsors who not only values women’s football, but are also committed to enhancing the women’s game to a broader audience. We are very excited about the sponsorship and giving the opportunity to the students of Stanmore College to gain both work and educational opportunities with The London Bees and at The Hive.”
Meanwhile, the Bees have also signed German sports brand Jako as their official kit supplier.
Hans Werkle and Paul Todd, representatives of Jako export UK, commented: “We are proud to be the official kit supplier of the London Bees. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in this brand new football team for London and we look forward to growing with them.”
The Bees, the only professional soccer side to have London in their title, will play their home fixtures at the The Hive Stadium, the 5,176 capacity home of Barnet FC, for at least the next two seasons.
