Ivorian soccer star Didier Drogba has teamed up with Namibia Breweries-owned beer brand Windhoek Lager for a new Africa-wide advertising campaign.
Drogba, who was chosen in-part for his good reputation and charitable work, is set to feature in a marketing campaign that will include a television commercial, posters, billboard advertising, and potentially a public appearance in Namibia.
Jacqueline Pack, the senior brand manager of Windhoek at Namibia Breweries, commented: “Drogba shares the same values and conviction that we do. Not only is he a proudly world class African, but he has also kept it real, prioritising the important things in life above triviality and the temptation to do it easier. His authenticity and strength make him a man that Windhoek is proud to be associated with.”
Drogba added: “It’s great to see an African beer become so popular in so many different countries. I’m looking forward to visiting the Namibian shores soon to see the home of Windhoek lager.”
The advertising campaign will launch on 19th December with the airing of a new television commercial in which Drogba will chart the brand’s journey through its lifetime.
