Italian Serie A club Catania has agreed a deal for food company Fiorucci to become its new main sponsor.
Terms of the deal were undisclosed, but Italian media reports said the agreement will be in place for the 2013-14 season. Fiorucci will share branding space on the front of the Sicilian club’s shirts with ferry company TTT Lines.
Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti said: “Football remains the first vehicle of advertising, even if the (economic) crisis prevents many companies from making significant investments. In this sense we need to find new solutions and our own is an example.”
Catania has opened its 2013-14 campaign with back-to-back defeats and following Sunday’s 3-0 home loss to Internazionale currently sits 18th in Serie A. Director of Fiorucci, Antonio Mazzesi, added: “For us it is a matter of great pride to be back in football after the experience with Inter. With Catania at our side there is a desire to invest in Sicily.”
