English Premier League club Manchester City has launched a partnership with camera manufacturer GoPro.

Under the deal, the California-based company will use its Hero 3 cameras and point-of-view filming technique to produce exclusive content featuring City’s first-team. During the team’s visit to New York this summer, GoPro shot its first football feature using the lightweight high-resolution cameras, which were mounted on England goalkeeper Joe Hart, France international Samir Nasri and members of City’s coaching staff.

As part of the production, GoPro also collected footage from City’s games against Chelsea at New York’s Yankee Stadium and Busch Stadium in St Louis, capturing the pre-match atmosphere within the team. Through its free-to-view CityTV platform on its official website, City already provides fans with behind-the-scenes footage via its Tunnel Cam and Inside City features.

The club’s chief commercial and operating officer, Tom Glick, said: “We have always been passionate about providing fans with content that is not only immersive and captivating, but a true reflection of what goes on behind-the-scenes on and off the pitch. GoPro has enabled us to take that philosophy to the next level, combining both their cutting edge technology and expertise in capturing raw point-of-view sports footage.”
