Real Madrid has extended its agreement with information security and identity management company WISeKey in a deal that will see the Swiss firm continue to exclusively distribute the club’s mobile content in China.
The partnership was first signed last year to take effect for the current 2012-13 season. Under the agreement, WISeKey and its Chinese partners aim to help Real monetise its brand value by distributing and marketing the club’s mobile content to its estimated 150 million fans in the region.
“WISeKey is delighted to renew its contract with Real Madrid and continue our work with the club to provide the Chinese community of Real Madrid fans with the mobile content they want,” said Carlos Moreira, founder and CEO of WISeKey.
Rafael de Los Santos, new media business director of Real Madrid, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with WISeKey to boost the club’s presence and strengthen our popularity in China. Real Madrid fans can find us in nearly every corner of the world thanks to our dynamic licencing model, which now includes the Chinese market thanks to WISeKey.”
