Bayern Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer is hoping the club can "return to normal" following the mass interest in Pep Guardiola’s appointment.
The former Barcelona coach was announced as Jupp Heynckes' successor six days ago, with the 41-year-old set to take charge as of next summer.
The news was greeted with great surprise by much of the world's media and Beckenbauer admits he will be glad to see the back of the media frenzy surrounding the Bavarians.
"This news hit people like a bomb. It is clear that we are on every news channel in the world, with everybody wanting to congratulate Bayern Munich. But now it's time to return to normal again and to concentrate on the Bundesliga," he said to Sky90.
Meanwhile, ex-Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn told Bild how he believes Guardiola will be clever enough to acknowledge that the Bundesliga leaders will not be able to play the same way as the Catalans.
“Guardiola is intelligent and knows that the Barca system cannot just be copied straight over to Bayern Munich. Unlike the Barca players the Bayern players have not grown up with these automatisms."
