Ibrahimovic: Beckham is the player Paris Saint-Germain need

The Sweden international has nothing but praise for his new team-mate and feels he could help the team to silverware, while Leonardo is equally positive about his arrival
Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that former England captain David Beckham is just the player Paris Saint-Germain need as they aim to win Ligue 1 and go far in the Champions League.

The veteran midfielder inked a five-month deal with PSG on deadline day of the winter transfer window, and Ibrahimovic is confident that the 37-year-old will prove to be a success at his new club.

"I believe that signing him was a good thing because apart from his experience, he has a lot of other qualities," the Sweden star told RMC.

"He adds something in the mental aspect of the game as he's very strong mentally. He is a real winner and that's exactly what we need. He will help us a lot."

Meanwhile, sporting director Leonardo has high expectations of the former LA Galaxy, Real Madrid and Manchester United man.

He added: "Beckham is a role model. He's a player who has enjoyed success at the highest level and has an impressive resume.

"I think that he will prove to be a big surprise at PSG. He has always played at a high level over the past six years. He is not here for the media exposure, but to win titles."

Les Parisiens currently sit atop of the Ligue 1 table with 48 points from 23 games.
