Harambee Stars will depart for Brazil on June 21 (Saturday) and have been earmarked to watch Nigeria taking on Argentina in Porte Alegre on June 25France-based striker Dennis Oliech is among Harambee Stars' players', who will travel to Brazil to watch some group stage matches.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday sponsored a squad of 17 players and four officials for the trip. The team will depart for Brazil on June 21 (Saturday) and will watch Nigeria confront Argentina in Porte Alegre on June 25.
Speaking after presentation, President Kenyatta promised more investment in football in a bid to raise country’s fledging standards. Kenyatta revealed that the government will soon unveil their plans for more funding to the sport.
“The government is committed to raising football standards in Kenya and for this we understand that a lot of investment is needed. We will soon announce the kind of investment we are going to make to football.”
Harambee Stars has received greatest support under current government. The team is always given air-tickets to honor international fixtures. During the function, East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) donated Sh3.2million to help in sponsoring the team to Brazil for World Cup.
