thumbnail Hello,

After the Dragons lost in Croatia to leave their World Cup hopes hanging by a thread, their boss has praised his side's continued determination in spite of the result

Chris Coleman has praised Wales' attitude despite falling to defeat in their latest World Cup qualifier.

The Welsh lost 2-0 to Croatia in Zagreb thanks to goals from Mario Mandzukic and Eduardo, but after the game the Dragons' boss hailed their determination even when defeat looked inevitable.

Coleman told Sky Sports: "I've got to say, compared to the last performance away from home, it was a lot more pleasing to see the players not giving up, not folding, and whatever they had they gave to us tonight, and at the end there we were pushing them.

"If we’d taken a few more chances offensively, on another night we could have had a goal or two.

"What was pleasing for me was when we conceded the second, we didn't disappear, we stuck at it.

"We knew that if we could get a goal back it would put some pressure on them."

Coleman also refused to place too much blame on defender Ashley Williams for a defensive error, after his poor backpass let in Mandzukic to score the home side's first goal.

He added: "It's amazing really, we can't keep a clean sheet. We make one mistake and we concede.

"Ashley Williams is a top class defender and the ball just got stuck. That end of the pitch is very sticky, and it just got stuck.

"That made it difficult for Lewis Price, the striker closes him down, the ball doesn't go anywhere and it ends up in the back of the net.

"Defensively, we made one mistake, and we got punished for it."
