Following the Brazilian giant's recent signing of Elias, the 28-year-old was reported to have called for a meeting with a delegation of team officials, according to Globoesporte.
Love was understood to have emerged from the discussions deeply disillusioned, and returned to training only to bid farewell to his team-mates, informing them of his intention to return to CSKA.
Flamengo's official website has since confirmed the striker's departure, bringing to an end his 12-month stay at the club.
The forward scored 13 goals in 36 league games for Urubu, but was unable to fire his team to any silverware.
