Mesut Ozil says Borussia Dortmund can win this season's Champions League, after the German champions took four points off Real Madrid in the group stage of the competition.
Ozil scored an 89th minute equaliser at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, to deny Jurgen Klopp's team a famous victory over the current Liga holders.
"Of course [Borussia] Dortmund can win the Champions League," he explained to Bild.
"Those who can win the German Championship two times in a row, can win the Champions League any time. We have seen twice that Dortmund are a really good team."
The Germany midfielder's late strike from a free kick has seen many question whether he should take more responsibility at dead ball situations, but he believes there are several players capable of producing the goods from distance.
"We have really good free kick takers, and it also depends on the position. You need to have surprises for the opponent," he explained.
"But whenever I have a good feeling and the position suits me, of course I will shoot again."
The former Schalke player's goal meant that Jose Mourinho's team remain second in Group D, and he was eager to stress the importance of his first goal of the campaign.
"It was an extremely important goal for Real Madrid. For the club, the fans, for the team. I immediately said that I will dedicate the goal to Real's fans," Ozil added.
"This goal means a lot to me because it showed me that everything is possible if you believe in your chance until the end of the match.
"We had so many good chances and a regular goal [by Jose Callejon] was not given. But we proved we have high morale anyway and fought until the last minute."
