The 28-year-old has lamented the Italian media for exaggerating Juventus' need for a feared centre-forward.
And with the Bianconeri on course to defend their Serie A title, the forward believes the team's work as a unit deserves more recognition.
“If you look at the situation carefully, you understand who wants the top player more out of the club and the media,” Matri told reporters.
“It seems like the latter to me. That’s why we are criticised in an exaggerated manner.
“There is no top player here, there is a squad that works as a unit. Attackers work to score, but also work to create goals.
“Unfortunately you like to criticise our attack and not highlight the work it does. But you have to deal with criticism when you play for Juventus, you have to respond to it on the pitch."
Juventus host Fiorentina on February 9, and are three points clear at the top of Serie A.
