The 65-year-old coach was dismissed by the club's board of directors after a run of five games without a win, which saw the club drop to eighth in Serie A.
The final straw came as Roma lost 4-2 at home to Cagliari on Saturday, with Zeman sacked after the game and temporarily replaced by his assistant Aurelio Andreazzoli.
However, Zeman is not prepared to call it a day just yet, and made his feelings on the subject clear when a group of Roma fans asked him if he would be retiring.
“They’d have to shoot me first," he stated.
When the fans said that they were disappointed with how his reign at the club had ended, Zeman gave his thoughts on his departure.
“I’m even more so. You had nothing to do with it. They told me I’d been fired on Saturday.”
