Zanetti targeting Coppa Italia and Europa League double
The Nerazzurri veteran feels the team is back on track after a disappointing dip in form, and insists focus will now be on winning trophies and finishing high up the Serie A table
Inter captain Javier Zanetti is targeting success in both the Coppa Italia and Europa League this season.Andrea Stramaccioni's men advanced to the semi-finals of the Coppa following a 3-2 AET win over Bologna on Tuesday, and will face CFR Cluj in the last 32 of the continental competition.
Zanetti believes clinching an impressive double is well within the Nerazzurri's capabilities, telling Telelombardia: “We want to win the Coppa Italia and Europa League. And then we want to finish as high as possible in the League.
“We know we can do it. The team was reinforced with a lot of new players in the summer and to start with we were moving in different directions.
“We have had a lot of commitments on several fronts and our performances definitely declined, especially after we beat Juventus.
“But now we are a lot better and will focus on the games to come.”
Inter's next match is away against Roma on January 20 in Serie A.
