The Nerazzurri have had a fairly solid 2012-13 season with the winter break poised to come to an end this weekend.
Stramaccioni's side sit fourth in Serie A on 35 points - level with third-placed Fiorentina, and two points behind second-placed Lazio and chasing leaders Juventus who are head by eight points.
Milan beat Juventus 3-1 to end their 49-game unbeaten run in the Italian top flight and also conquered arch-rivals Milan in October winning 1-0, and Stramaccioni highlighted those games as key examples of the squad’s potential.
“I look back on the last derby win. That win, and the one against Juventus show we have qualities beyond the technical and tactical,” the 36-year-old told the Inter Channel.
“[Yuto] Nagatomo got sent off, and the game could have changed at that point, but we pulled out something extra that cannot really be explained.
“We were driven by the fans that day.”
