Batoto ba Mungu reveal to Goal that they have written to KPL demanding that action is taken against Ingwe captain for deliberately injuring Duncan Ochieng’
Former champions Sofapaka want Kenyan Premier League (KPL) to take disciplinary action against AFC Leopards’ midfielder Martin Imbalambala.
Batoto ba Mungu alleges that Imbalambala deliberately hurt goalkeeper Duncun Ochieng’ during Sunday’s league match played at Machakos Municipal Stadium.
The custodian underwent an operation on Monday which has ruled him out of action for up to three months. Sofapaka chairman Elly Kalekwa has revealed to Goal that they have officially complained to KPL over Imbalambala and expect that the player will be punished.
“His action was deliberate and what we are surprised about is that the referee did not even issue him with a caution yet this was a live game.”
Kalekwa claimed that prior to the incident, Imbalambala was seen trying to injure Ochieng’ on at least three occasions. Contacted, KPL Chief Executive Jack Oguda said he has not officially received a complaint from the club but he was aware of their concerns.
“We can punish a player even after a match has ended but there has to be a formal complaint. So far we have not received any but will act accordingly if we get the same.”
