AFC Leopards' have been hit by injuries to key players with coach James Nandwa expressing concern over the situation with less than one month before the new season kicks-off.
Apart from Allan Wanga who has been ruled out for two months, the club is also grappling with the injuries of defender Jackson Saleh and top striker Jacob Keli.
“The players were injured during the Mapinduzi Cup. The playing surface was unfriendly coupled with the fact that majority of our players were unfit going into the tournament,” revealed Nandwa.
The coach is however optimistic of a great season despite a poor performance in the Mapinduzi Cup.
“We feel for our fans but I want to assure them that it was a great learning experience for us. We had the opportunity to test our new players and they are impressive. We have put that disastrous outing behind us and are looking forward to a good season,” Nandwa told Goal.
The team resumes training on Thursday and move to Mumias next week for pre-season training ahead of the GOtv shield defense as well as the Confederations Cup and the Kenyan Premier League.
