Despite not being part of the triumphant team in the last year edition held in Uganda, Aucho is seeking for history with the Cranes side in Nairobi
Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho is targeting winning 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup currently on-going in Kenya.
Despite not being part of the triumphant team in last year's edition held in Kampala, Uganda, Aucho is seeking for history with the Cranes side in Nairobi.
The Tusker Premier League player, turning up for Tusker FC, has been in sizzling form for the former Kenyan champions leading to his call up to the Ugandan team. Aucho one of the most sort after midfielders in the Kenyan league, says his intentions are to successfully defend the title with Cranes.
Aucho was instrumental in the team’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in a Group ‘C’ match on Friday being involved in the winning goal scored by fellow Kenyan premier league player Danny Sserenkuma, turning out for new champions Gor Mahia FC.
“Winning today (Friday) is very important to me and the team at large. Rwanda is a very good side as seen from the battle they threw at us. With Sudan winning we needed to produce a similar show.
“Most of the players I am playing with were in the national U-23 side. Therefore, majority of the lads are very young. That means we are young and determined to defend our title.”
Aucho clarified he is not sure whether he will be with the Ruaraka-based outfit when the 2014 season finally kicks-off. “To be honest I am not sure I will be with Tusker come next season. Offers have come from near and far. Talking of next season will be mere speculations.”
