Club secretary general George Bwana reveals to Goal they are not going to release the Ugandan striker, despite handing in transfer request
A new tug of war has erupted between Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia and influential striker Dan Sserunkuma.
The club has declined to release Sserunkuma, who has indicated he wants to leave. Club Secretary General George Bwana has revealed to Goal that they received a request from the player to leave but insists that will not happen due to contractual obligations.
“Last week, the player wrote to us requesting that he be allowed to leave but our position has not changed. He still has 14 months remaining on his contract and we are not ready to release him at this time.
“He still has to see out his contract and then any club which wants him must talk to us and if we agree then he can leave. That is the rule everywhere.”
This is the second time Sserunkuma is trying force his way out of club. The first time was three months ago when he left for trials in Armenia but the move was forestalled by Gor Mahia.
