Despite Jesse Were scoring for Tusker against Western Stima, Keli emerged the winner after grabbing a double against Karuturi to reach 17 goals
Kenya Commercial Bank striker Jacob Keli bagged the Golden Boot after netting a double against relegated side Karuturi Sports in the final day of the Kenya Premier League on Saturday.
Keli struck twice as the bankers' saw off Karuturi Sports 2-0 at Old Trafford in Naivasha. Keli beat his closest competitor Jesse Were. The Tusker forward, who has led the Golden Boot race for large part of the season, scored the lone goal in brewers' 1-0 win over Western Stima in Kakamega.
Last weekend, Were would have gone a goal up but missed to score from the penalty spot in Tusker’s 2-3 defeat to Sony Sugar with Keli scoring the following day against champions Gor Mahia, on the day they received the trophy.
AFC Leopards' striker Allan Wanga finished third as Ingwe beat Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1 in Mumias. Keli’s compatriot at KCB Clifford Alwanga is fourth with nine goals under his belt while Gor Mahia striker Dan Sserunkuma has eight goals, completing the top five.
