Angelo played for the entire 90 minutes and capped his debut with a well taken goal as Gor Mahia beat Shabana FC 6-0 in the Gotv Shield Cup
New Gor Mahia boy Angelo Okumu says his biggest target is to win a starting role at Gor Mahia. Angelo played for the entire 90 minutes and capped his debut with a well taken goal as Gor Mahia beat Shabana 6-0 in the Gotv Shield Cup second round match played at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking to Goal after his debut, Angelo said he was delighted with his performance. “I came to Nairobi from Mombasa with the dream of playing for Gor Mahia one day. I have waited for three years and today my chance finally produced itself. I had always dreamt of doning Gor Mahia colors and today marks the start of a great journey for me,” said Angelo.
Gor Mahia fished out the winger from Nairobi provincial side Tena United where he was groomed before making signing for K’Ogalo.
“I felt I played well because that was my goal before the game. Scoring just makes it sweeter for me and I feel great. I thank my team mates because they helped me a lot and told me not to put myself under any pressure and relax.
“I had worked very hard to get into the first 18 and my target from here is to get into the starting eleven. I want to work very hard because Gor Mahia is a big team and every player works hard to get a chance.”
Angelo moved to Nairobi three years ago from Mombasa where he had played for several coastal clubs with latest being Coast United.
