Teenage striker Michael Olunga, who also plays for the senior side, scored the only goal of the match in the 76th minute to earn the brewers' a quarters berth
Tusker have qualified to the quarter-final of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) U-19 tournament after stopping City Stars 1-0 at Impala grounds on Friday.
Teenage striker Michael Olunga, who also plays for the senior side, scored the only goal of the match in the 76th minute with the game looking to go for a barren draw.
Olunga banged home the all important goal after City Stars goalkeeper Boniface Barasa punched Clinton Kisiavuki’s effort onto the path of the goal scorer.
After that win, Tusker are leading in Group ‘B’ with seven points from three matches having drawn their opener 1-1 against Chemelil Sugar and stopping Sony Sugar 2-0 in their other preliminary fixture.
At Hope Centre, Chemelil Sugar and Sony Sugar settled to a barren draw in a result that sends out the latter.
Chemelil on the other hand proceed to the last eight as they remain runners-up in Group ‘B’ with five points. Sony have four points while City Stars exit the competition without a single point having lost all their matches. The quarter-finals will be played from Monday August 19 at City Stadium.
