Former Ugandan coach Bobby Williamson on Wednesday lost his 100 percent record after champions Tusker forced K'Ogalo to a barren draw at Kasarani

Gor Mahia's pursuit for the elusive premiership title was checked on Wednesday night after they were held to a barren draw by league champions Tusker FC in a league match at Kasarani on Wednesday night.

However, it will be the home side which will be the more aggrieved side after losing many opening chances especially in the second half. Jesse Were was the most guilty, squandering two open chances which would have made the difference for the league champions.

Gor Mahia had a bright first half which was characterized by low action in front of goal. Donald Mosoti had won chances in the opening 25 minutes, first shooting over the bar from Samwel Odhiambo’s punch from a corner and the second forcing Odhiambo to a fine save after the Tusker goalie had punched out a corner just to the edge of the box.

On the half hour mark, Gor had another decent chance but a full stretched Odhiambo managed to tip away the ball from Israel Emuge’s head from Innocent Mutiso’s cross.

Tusker were a different piece in the second period as they came back with attacking minds. Ten minutes from the restart, Robert Omnuk had a decent chance to open the scores when he found acres of space on the left side of Gor’s 18 yard area. However, he was too slow to execute a shot and Solomon Nasio managed to block him away.

Substitute Andrew Murunga had another chance to score in the 67th minute, rifling on his favorite left foot from a Jesse Were short start to a free-kick but man of the match Jerry Onyango saved the effort.

Four minutes later, Jesse Were had the greatest opportunity to open the scores, but once again, Jerry Onyango came out tops. Robert Omunuk had beautifully fed the KPL Top scorer inside the box, but Were failed to beat Jerry who put his entire body against the ball.

In the 74th minute, Were had another opportunity to score, also quite open but Jerry once again denied him. Andrew Murunga had brought in a low cross inside the box, Were controlling but his shot saved. Michael Olunga had a second bite of the cherry but he could not make much of it.

Olunga himself had another opportunity but Jerry Onyango proved his man of the match performance producing another save.

The draw sees Gor pull up to 36 points from 18 matches while Tusker’s chances of retaining the title continue to be slimmer by the day.
