AFC Leopards will miss key midfielder Anthony Kimani when they take on former league champions Sofapaka at City Stadium.

Kimani was injured three weeks ago while playing against his former club Mathare United and will therefore be out for one month.

But Leopards will welcome back veteran defender Eric Masika who suffered a dip in form that saw him miss most of the matches at the beginning of the season.

It is an important match for Leopards coach Luc Eymael, who has struggled to get good results at the den despite being charged with the responsibility to improve performance at the club.

Though Eymael insists play has improved at the club this means nothing if not accompanied by good results and he faces the pressure to perform.

Leopards have struggled to score and Eymael must find a way to motivate the likes of Allan Wanga, Noah Wafula and Mike Barasa to get goals. AFC Leopards' latest signing Abdalah Juma could face his former club.

Sofapaka will be looking for an opportunity to go top of the 16-team table standings when they face Leopards.

Coach David Ouma has done a lot of work to return the team to winning ways after a dip in confidence occasioned by a 2-1 defeat away to Bandari three weeks ago.

  • AFC Leopards are yet to win a match at City Stadium this season. The last time they played at the venue, the match ended 2-1 in favor of Nairobi City Stars.
  • AFC Leopards have won three matches since the season started. The team has picked maximum points against Western Stima, Homeboyz and Ulinzi Stars.

  • Sofapaka won the premiership trophy in 2009 and it was also the first time they were promoted to the top league.

  • Sofapaka beat Nairobi City Stars 3-1 in their last match at City Stadium on April 20.

  • Sofapaka will go top on level with Thika United if they beat Leopards on Saturday and the league leaders go down to Western Stima.
