Tusker coach explains exclusion of keeper Boniface Oluoch

Tusker tactician Robert Matano tells Goal.com that Oluoch's performance had dipped hence the decision to prefer second choice custodian Samuel Odhiambo

Tusker coach Robert Matano has justified his exclusion of top goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch from his starting line-up in the last two months.

The Harambee Stars goalkeeper has been relegated to the bench following a series of blunders and his place taken by Samuel Odhiambo.

Matano said on Thursday that the goalkeeping department is a very sensitive area which needs consistency.

“We have to be very careful in how we handle the goalkeeping area. It is very sensitive and we cannot afford any blunders because we need consistency,” he told Goal.com.

He said Oluoch also had his chance but now Odhiambo is at the peak and must be given an opportunity on the pitch.

“Oluoch was in goal for long and Odhiambo was out and it was not a big deal. Sometimes a good players needs to be out for a long time to learn from their mistakes.”

“Furthermore there are many matches coming up and they will all have an equal chance to be in goal.”
