Amrouche had dropped Wafula from the initial squad owing to indiscipline but has now been recalled as a replacement for Musa Mohammed of Gor Mahia
Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche has called up AFC Leopards' defender Edwin Baraza Wafula to replace Gor Mahia’s Musa Mohammed, who has been dropped.
Amrouche had dropped Wafula from the initial squad owing to indiscipline after he was red carded for elbowing a Chemelil player in a KPL Top 8 fixture.
“We have called up Wafula to replace Musa because he has not shown up for training. Wafula has improved very much in the last games that I have watched him and having worked with him before, I know he is going to be a lot of value to the team,” Amrouche told Goal.com.
Amrouche however, does not blame Musa for missing training but has rather heaped blame on coach Zdravko Logarusic.
“He (Logarusic) has been very difficult in releasing players for the national team something that is not good."
"Since when we were preparing for the first leg match in Nigeria, we have always had difficulties with him. We will have to talk to the chairman to have an amicable solution to this because it is not a good attitude.”
“We have to develop players in the country and for us to do that we have to corporate all of us. For example, I called up David Owino when he was on the bench and now he is a regular starter."
"That is the kind of development we want and it must come with corporation."Harambee Stars are in camp preparing for the June 5 World Cup qualifier against Africa champions Nigeria in Nairobi.
