Perennial rivals AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will lock horns in one of the most anticipated fixture in the Kenya premiership dubbed 'Mashemeji derby' at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

The match elicits a lot of emotion in the local soccer scene with the rivalry of the two teams spurning decades.

Goal.com Kenya spoke to sports journalists and fans who have shared their views on which team they believe will carry the day.

I Know Gor Mahia will carry the day because even looking at their current form, Gor is miles ahead of AFC Leopards. These days, AFC Leopards have a phobia against Gor Mahia. They hear the name Danny Sserunkuma and they shiver. They will all be man marking him and Kelvin 'Daddy' Omondi will score the opening goal. AFC Leopards will never beat us. We understand and know all their tricks by now.

Definitely Gor Mayienga piny will carry the day. They have the momentum thus far and AFC Leopards are yet to pick up. They have a new coach (Belgian Luc Eymael) and are trying to learn some of his philosophies and that does not make them ready for the derby. Gor are also a wounded lion after their exit in the Confederations Cup.

AFC Leopards will win this match. Despite going in as underdogs it's Luc Eymael’s time to prove that he can deliver and the best way to do it is by beating Gor Mahia. Our players have also not had the best of games in recent past but a game against Gor Mahia is an excellent platform for them to prove their worth. All these will be factors to help Leopards win.

                                                       - Myra Redele-(Football fan)

There is usually no favorite in a derby and this will be no different case. However, Leopards will carry the day according to me. They will come into this match as the underdogs because truth be said, Gor Mahia are enjoying better form than Leopards. The fact that they will underrate Leopards will be a plus to the team. I also think it’s Luc Eymel’s time to get his first victory since joining the club. This is our turning point.

- Sam Eyinda - (CLAW Trust official)

Gor Mahia has high chances of beating AFC Leopards blatantly. Looking at their recent records, Gor Mahia have had a better record in the league than AFC Leopards even in the last two matches. Also, Leopards have some in-house politics after Alex Ole Magelo announced that he will not be defending his seat as Chairman and this might just dampen spirits of the players.

- Alex Isaboke- (Sports journalist)

There is a lot of tension and excitement surrounding this game and for a derby, it is always difficult to predict the winner. For me, I don’t see us having a winner after 90 minutes. I foresee a draw. Yes the two teams have very good players and probably all want to win but for this case, a draw would be the most inevitable result.
