K'Ogalo coach Logarusic reveals to Goal.com that Akumu, who picked a knock on Sunday against Homeboyz, missed training on Tuesday and could be sidelined for long period
Gor Mahia have suffered another injury setback after midfielder Anthony Akumu skipped training on Tuesday.
Coach Zdravko Logarusic confirmed to Goal.com that Akumu did not train on Tuesday after picking up injury in Sunday’s clash against Kakamega Homeboyz in Mumias Complex.
“We have lost Akumu to injury. Today (Tuesday), Akumu did not train after picking a knock and we don’t know how long he will be out.”
Akumu joins the growing list of players out injured. “At the moment we have Moses Odhiambo, Edwin Lavatsa, Paul Kiongera and Innocent Mutiso on the injury list. This has been our major challenge but we will pick once everyone is back on his feet.”
Logarusic insisted that the club is on the right track despite concern over their performance. Gor drew last Sunday’s fixture after being held to a barren draw by newcomers Kakamega Homeboyz.
The Croat said there is nothing to worry about since they have done better compared to this time last year.
“Last year at this time we had just five points now we have 11 and with two matches at hand compared to our opponents. We may not be where we want to be but we are on track and there is no reason to worry.”
