Kenya Premier League (KPL) has confirmed that no premier league match will be aired live this weekend by pay TV channel Supersport.
A statement from KPL also stated that the Top eight semi-finals contest between AFC Leopards and Chemelil Sugar at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday (April 17), will also not be transmitted live.
“This is to inform you that SuperSport will be unable to cover Tusker Premier League matches and a KPL Top 8 knockout match as of the 13th - 19th of April, due to logistical problems. Live matches shall resume from Saturday (April 20),” read the statement.
The matches affected are the double header on Saturday at Kasarani pitting Sofapaka and Western Stima and AFC Leopards vs Bandari. On Sunday, the only scheduled live match was that pitting Thika United and Ulinzi Stars at the Thika Municipal Stadium.A total of eight matches are lined up for Saturday and Sunday. Sofapaka will be up against Western Stima at Kasarani before AFC Leopards take on Bandari at the same venue. Karuturi Sports will entertain Mathare United while Chemelil Sugar will host newcomers Kakamega Homeboyz.
On Sunday, table toppers Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) face a tall order when they confront Top eight champions Gor Mahia at Kasarani, Thika United host Ulinzi Stars at Thika Municipal Stadium, Muhoroni Youth entertain City Stars while Sony Sugar will take on champions Tusker FC at Awendo Green Stadium.
