Belgian Luc Eymael was on Wednesday officially unveiled as the new coach of Kenya Premier League (KPL) side AFC Leopards.
Though Chairman Alex Ole Magelo declined to mention the duration of the contract between Leopards and Eymael, he (Magelo) said they will give the tactician the full support to drive the team to greater heights.
“We are very happy to officially present our new Coach Luc Eymael. We have faith in him and his abilities. We promise to give him the full support he needs as he takes this team to the next level,” said Magelo.
Magelo also disclosed that the club has given the Belgian free hand to search for his assistant.
“We will give him time to shop around for the best assistant coach he would like to work with. We don’t want to impose someone on him but we would like him to look for someone he will be comfortable working with."
The Belgian conducted his fifth training session with Leopards on Wednesday since arriving in the country last week. Eymael has promised to do his best to ensure the team gets to unbeatable status.
“This team has good players and I know that we can make it to be even greater. We promise to do our best as a team and personally as a coach I promise the fans that I will do my best."
Eymael was hired as a replacement for Tom Olaba, who was sacked after only four matches in charge of Ingwe.
The 56-year old watched his team battle to a 0-0 draw with table toppers KCB in his first match in charge in Mumias on Saturday. He will find another test when Ingwe takes on newcomers Bandari at Kasarani on Saturday.
