The Batoto Ba Mungu tactician says it was unfortunate that they could not fight for the lucrative KPL Top 8 crown after being dumped out by Thika Utd on penalties

Sofapaka FC Coach David Ouma has said his attention now shifts to the league and the FKF Cup after being dumped out of the KPL Top 8 tournament by Thika United on post match penalties on Wednesday night.

Ouma said it was unfortunate that they could not fight for the lucrative Top 8 crown.

“As a team we wanted to win trophies this year. We already have one, which is the Charity Cup. We wanted to get this as the second one but as it is now we have to shift our attention to the Cup and the league."

"I think we are in a good position to win the league because we have good quality in the team as well as the right character to do it," Ouma told Goal.com.

On losing to Thika on penalties, Ouma was gracious in defeat and said he was happy that his team had showed a good game despite going out.

“I am happy with how the team is building up early in the season. We play better each game and this was a chance for us to continue improving ourselves."

"Kudos to Thika they carried the day on penalties but I would also like to congratulate my boys for the good show. They gave a very good fight."
