AFC Leopardshave settled on Belgian national Luc Eymael to take up the coaching role at the club following the sacking of Tom Olaba.

A source in the club says plans have been finalized to hire the former Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) side Vital Club coach on an initial one year contract.

“I can confirm that Eymael will start work at Leopards den before the end of the week. He left Brussels at 10am on Wednesday and was expected to touch down at 11p.m,” the source told

The Belgian had also applied to be considered for the coaching role at national team Harambee Stars but was rejected when Frenchman Henri Michel was hired instead.

Olaba was sacked on Monday evening becoming the first casualty in what has turned out to be a very competitive Kenyan Premier League season.

Before being fired, the embattled coach had been recalled to Nairobi in what the club's vice-chairman Walter Onyino said was to protect him from irate fans.

"We have recalled the coach back to Nairobi to protect him from the fans who have threatened to harm him."

But Olaba dismissed his sacking on Tuesday insisting he has no letter to the effect.
