Karuturi chairman David Omega reveals they have finalized plans to hire the former international, whose first duty will be to turn around the club's league fortunesThika United assistant coach James Omondi has officially taken over as head coach at Naivasha-based side Karuturi Sports.
Karuturi Sports chairman David Omega confirmed they have finalized plans to hire the former international whose first duty will be to turn around the fortunes of their struggling side.
"We are not very happy with our performance in the league and we are confident the new man will turn things around for us. The poor performance must come to an end as we find ourselves in a tricky position," he told Goal.com.
Omega confirmed that Jack Gatheru has been retained as assistant coach after acting as head coach since Michael Nam left the club.
When reached for comment, Omondi said he is delighted by the new challenge and said his immediate task is to bring to an end the team's poor performance.
"I have been an assistant coach for a long time and cherish the new challenge because it will help me grow and become a better coach."
"My most immediate task is to motivate the players because they have lost their last matches and so we need to start winning and to do this, the players need to believe they can do it again."
Omondi will take over at the club this weekend. He formerly played for Thika United and was the first Kenyan to feature in the Vietnam league. He took over the coaching role after retirement.
