The young striker, whom the soldiers' acquired from Mathare Utd at the beginning of the season, hails his teammates and Coach Ali for good start in the league

He was viewed by many as the man of the match during Ulinzi Stars' 2-0 victory over Gor Mahia in a Kenya Premier League match on Wednesday.

His contribution to the side was immense as he took charge of things upfront cooling the tempo of the game when his side were under pressure.

Elvis Nandwa signed by Ulinzi Stars at the beginning of the season from Mathare United has told the club’s official website that the reason for his great performance and self belief is the support he has received from his team mates and coach Salim Ali.

“It is not always easy to come into a new team and get to settle in so comfortably. I have received very good motivation from the players especially the senior ones who have encouraged me to work hard and helped me to learn."

"The coach has also been supportive with his advices and sticking to them has made me be a disciplined player."

“Against Gor Mahia, we played like a team helping each other and covering each others’ mistakes as well as following the advice from the coach. That was the reason we won that game comfortably."

He targets getting his name more on the scoring sheet as well as eventually earning a call up to national team, Harambee Stars.

“I feel I still have more in store and I have a long way to go. I have to work hard and my aim is to score and assist more goals. I would also like to up my standards to the levels of getting called up to the national team."
