Thika United have granted assistant coach James Omondi permission to begin contractual talks with Karuturi Sports.
Goal.com understands that Omondi has beaten off stiff competition from other coaches including former AFC Leopards boss Jan Koops, and ex-Western Stima tactician Henry Omino and is slated to take over at Karuturi Sports, replacing Michael Nam, who is set to travel to Europe for a coaching course.
"James (Omondi) is a coach who knows his job well and if Karuturi get him, they will not only get a coach but also a leader. I wish him all the best if he gets the appointment," revealed Thika United coach John Kamau in a text message to Goal.com.
Omondi will carry to the Naivasha-based flower men a bag full of experience following an expansive playing career as a striker that saw him turn out for Oserian Fastac, as well as two Seychelles clubs, St.Michel and Anse Reunion.
The coach also had separate spells as a player in Oman, Qatar and Vietnam as well as with the national team, Harambee Stars.
Kamau has meanwhile, revealed that Moses Irungu, a former Thika United and Bidco player is being lined up as the assistant should Omondi depart the club.
