The team returned on Monday from Egypt and Coach Zdravko Logarusic is confident that they can overturn the scoreline and progress to the second round of the competition.
Gor Mahia seemingly have a mountain to climb, needing to win by at least 3-0 to force the game into extra time and penalties.
Logarusic says his players apologized for conceding cheaply and have promised to fight hard to get to the second round.
“The morning after the game, the players came to me and said ‘Coach we are sorry for conceding very foolish goals and we promise we will be in the second round.’ I trust that we can do it. In my life I never give up and that is the same spirit the players have,” Logarusic told Goal.com.
He says they need to up their ante in training in the next two weeks and hope their preparations will be crisp clean by the time they face the Egyptians in Nairobi.
“We have two weeks to plan for the return leg and if we prepare well, seal the loopholes then we can make it. Egyptian sides are not unbeatable."
"We would have won that match in Cairo had we taken the tens of chances we had. We cannot regret however, we now plan on overturning the result."
