Sofapaka coach David Ouma remains upbeat that the team will start banging in goals after managing to score only one from their three fixtures in the Kenya Premier League (KPL).

Sofapaka’s only goal of the season came against former champions Ulinzi Stars during a 1-1 draw at Afraha Stadium.

Ouma knows very well that the Batoto Ba Mungu needs to score goals and is very confident that his strikers will get things right soon.

“We might not be getting the number of goals we deserve but I think the most important thing at the moment is that we have the right composure. You can see from the way we build up from defence, the transition in midfield and upfront,” Ouma told the club’s official website.

“What we need to do now is just to perfect the finishing - my team of coaches and I are working on it. Soon everyone will see the results; that are a key area that we have identified to work on and in the upcoming matches I know we will be banging in goals.”

Sofapaka, who won the league on their first attempt in 2009, face Chemelil Sugar away in Chemelil on Saturday in a match Ouma insists they must win to revive their title hopes.

“We have played three matches so far and all is not lost yet. We are now planning for the next assignment against Chemelil and our aim is to bag maximum points.”
