Error prone Tusker FC goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch has been dropped from the final squad which faces St.Michel of Seychelles in the Caf Champions League fixture at Kasarani on Saturday.
The custodian will not play any role during the return leg contest just days after he was sent off during a DSTv Cup clash against Gor Mahia at Nyayo Stadium last weekend. The brewers' lost the match 5-4 on post match penalties.
Tusker coach Robert Matano had threatened to take disciplinary action against Oluoch after the Gor Mahia duel for being sent off and denying his team an advantage.
Though Matano insisted on Thursday that the player (Oluoch) is sick and this is the reason he is out, it was not lost on observers that the coach had finally cracked the whip on a player who has been so prone to school boy mistakes.
"What happened last Saturday has nothing to do with Oluoch's absence. He is sick and the doctor has adviced he keeps off. It is over and done with and we all understand that such mistakes happen in football," Matano told Goal.com.
Matano downplayed the absence of Oluoch insisting they can do without him." We are a well rounded team and do not rely on any particular player to perform and so it is the case with Oluoch," he said.
Tusker will be seeking to reach the next round of the competition having won the first leg fixture 4-1 away in Seychelles. St. Michel manager Andrew Jean-Louis is however, confident that his side will overturn tables.
“It won’t be easy and everyone knows that. The odds are against us – the score and the high altitude in Nairobi – but we will not give in easily."
"The tie is still open and our aim is not to lose in Nairobi. We will be all out for a win and if not a draw."
