Kenya's quest to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations will begin from the preliminary round after the country was not included in any of the seeded pots.

The Harambee Stars will therefore, for the third consecutive tournament be forced to square it out against a lowly ranked opponent from the continent in a play-off to earn a place in the final round of Group stages.

The qualification procedure will revert to it's initial format after it was altered for the 2013 edition following the change of the tournament’s calendar to odd- numbered years.

The draw for qualifying round of the 2015 African Cup of Nations set to be staged in Morroco, will be held on March 10 during the Caf General Assembly.

Kenya were defeated by Togo in the preliminary round of the 2013 African Cup of Nation qualifiers on away goals rule after the teams had tied 2-2 following both matches in Nairobi and Lome.

Harambee Stars also defeated Seychelles 7-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round of the ongoing 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Preliminary rounds are normally set aside by organizers for lowly ranked teams or sides that have failed to make a mark in the competition.

Kenya recently unveiled Belgian coach Adel Amrouche in a bid to improve on the stuttering performance.
