Tusker coach Robert Matano has heaped praise on his young players after the team's sterling performance against St.Michel of Seychelles on Saturday in a CAF Champions League preliminary match.
The Kenyan champions won the match 4-1 and have one leg in the first round of the competition. Matano praised defender David 'Cheche' Ochieng and new striker Michael Olunga for an outstanding performance.
"If you ask me, I think Ochieng was the best player on that day with his two goals. He showed a lot of character. Olunga's goal was outstanding and given that this was his first international match, it was an awesome performance," Matano told Goal.com.
Despite the team's convincing victory, Matano insists it is not done yet for his side and pointed out that work still needs to be done in preparation for the second leg.
"It was a convincing win nonetheless but we cannot begin to celebrate before we qualify. There is still some work to be done and this is what we a focusing on at the moment. We have to get the results on the pitch then we can afford to celebrate," he said.
Tusker arrived back home on Sunday and begin training later this week in preparation for the return match as well as the domestic season which starts at the weekend.
