The Croat admits his team must work harder to edge out Anse Re Union after being held to a barren draw in the first leg match of the Confederation Cup on SaturdayGor Mahia coach Zradvko Logarusic admitted his side faces a tall order in the return leg match of the Confederations Cup fixture.
Logarusic said his team must work harder to edge out Anse Reunion after being held to a barren draw on Saturday.
He blamed his strikers for not converting their chances pointing out it is the only way to win a game.
"Today we had all our best strikers on the pitch but they couldn't convert our chances. If you cannot score then you cannot win. We must work hard in the retune match and go for business in the return match. We cannot take it for granted, " he said.
Logarusic also defended his decision to bring in Edwin Lavatsa a decision that was criticized by a section of fans.
"Lavatsa is one of our key strikers and he is also in the national team. He plays well with Rama Salim and so when we had to come a substitution, it only made sense that we bring him on board."
Logarusic once again admitted that had the match been played a few weeks into the season, perhaps the results would have been different but refused to cite it as the reason for their barren draw.
"Obviously we still need some time to get into the season and the results would have been different with more time of preparations. But that is not the excuse and it is not upto us to say what the federation should do in order to help local teams taking part in continental competitions."
